MT seems like your average American teenager but she has been hiding a big secret from everyone she knows besides her family. Her name is Monserrat Thalia and she is an illegal immigrant; the no social security number, undocumented type of illegal immigrant. Even her best friend since grade school doesn't know. Now MT is almost 18 and she's worried about what will happen to her. What is the point in getting good grades in school anymore if there is no possible way for her to go to college? She can't do anything with her life in fear of being found out she is illegal and then being deported, or even worse getting her family deported along with her.

To make things worse her father is getting more and more abusive towards MT and she is afraid he will soon go after her mother and little brother as well. The only bright side in her life is her best friend, Chelsea and the new guy in her life. But soon they will both be going off to college and then what will MT do?

This was an incredibly emotional read that brings up the topics of being an illegal immigrant, domestic violence, and suicide. If you aren't ready to shed at least a couple of tears then don't try to read it until you are. It is a definite page turner and because of this I finished it in two days. From the beginning of the story you can tell that MT is a troubled young girl and she feels there is nothing she can do about her situation. What made this story even more touching to me was the fact that the author, Maria Andreu, based the story off of her own life living in America as an illegal immigrant. After reading this book I can imagine that being an illegal is a very intense and scary situation. It was a touching story that pulls at your heart strings. I won't be forgetting about it anytime soon. I would definitely check this book out if what you've read so far seems interesting. It's an emotional read that will have you turning the page until you've finished!
First, just let me say WOW. I couldn't believe the ending of this book. Now, I should have expected something outrageous since I've read reviews before reading it myself but nothing could have prepared me for that ending. For those of you who are avid E. Lockhart readers this book is more dark than her others, so be prepared for that. I must say I cried repeatedly. It takes a lot for me to cry during a book so that is saying something right there, isn't it? For the first few chapters I was confused as to what was happening since the book skips to stories from different Summers and then takes you back to the present. But it kept the story moving at a quick pace and kept me wanting more! Overall I gave this book an "A" since it was simply great. The writing was excellent as I had expected it to be since it was by E. Lockhart and I love her writing. The story flowed at a great pace and the characters were all great as well. One little part that I loved was how the Sinclair family had many Golden Retrievers. I am a sucker for those dogs :). I highly recommend picking up a copy of this when it is released in May, you will not be disappointed! Breannahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15838390111302423537noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8567617016335138217.post-66155251270865238012013-02-12T00:00:00.002-08:002013-02-12T00:00:54.468-08:00The Dead Girls Detective Agency

Charlotte is your ordinary teenage girl living in New York. That is until one day when she's at the wrong place at the wrong time and ends up dead. She turns up in some sort of limbo and finds out from the other girls (and one mysterious boy) that she was murdered. How the heck is that possible? Who would have hated Charlotte that much that they needed to get rid of her? She has absolutely no idea.

To make matters worse she finds out that her boyfriend is apparently hooking up with every girl in school now that Charlotte is gone. And the hunky dead guy is messing with her head. She always thought being dead would be simple but that apparently doesn't happen until she gets her key to pass through the big red door. But how is that ever going to happen when finding out who her murderer is seems entirely impossible?

Now I've read some reviews on this book and noticed that people weren't rating it very highly. I really don't understand this since I was caught up in this book from the very first page. It's not really much of a paranormal book. I'd say it's more contemporary or chick lit. Since I am a fan of these genres I really enjoyed this book. It also has mystery too which you could probably tell from my summary. I had no idea who Charlotte's murderer was at all until right before they were revealed. The book also ended openly which I'm assuming means there is going to be a second book. Honestly, if you're in for a light read I would check this one out. I thought the storyline was great and I'm looking forward to another one. Breannahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15838390111302423537noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8567617016335138217.post-62017138847773942302013-02-07T18:18:00.000-08:002013-02-07T18:18:01.472-08:00Hallowed (Unearthly #2)

Clara is still trying to figure out what her purpose was supposed to be on the day of the fires. Saving Christian wasn't what she was supposed to do apparently. But on the other hand saving Tucker was never in her vision so that definitely wasn't it. While trying to figure this all out a new vision starts happening and it all but scares the pants off of Clara. Someone she loves is going to die, but who?

She is torn between her love for Tucker and her feelings for Christian and whether they are actually destined to be together or what. And now she has to worry about the new vision and what is going to happen. The life of a part angel is definitely not an easy one.

This was an amazing second book to the Unearthly trilogy. I was so excited when I saw the library had it! So much happened in this book it was almost shocking. I tried not to give too much away in the summary so I wouldn't spoil anything. Cynthia really has a way with words and her characters are all so amazing. I am so anxious now to read the final book in the trilogy, Boundless. I need to find out what is going to happen to everyone! If you're into angels, love, friendship, and heartbreak I would highly suggest checking out these books! Make sure to read Unearthly first though so you aren't lost. :)Breannahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15838390111302423537noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8567617016335138217.post-79203012239373232232013-01-30T12:12:00.000-08:002013-01-30T12:12:04.189-08:00Fallen

For the past 12 years 17-year-old Luce Price has been haunted by shadows. They have caused so many problems in her life, including a major life changing incident with a guy that she likes. This causes her parents to be afraid of her and they decide to send her to Sword and Cross boarding school which is a school for delinquents. Luce knows immediately that she won't fit in the second she arrives at the school. But then something strange happens. Her eyes fall upon a guy, Daniel Grigori, who seems oddly familiar. She can't place him and she has no idea why she feels like she knows him.

Over the next few days she tries to mention it to him but he just keeps shrugging it off. Soon Luce becomes obsessed trying to figure out just who Daniel is. With the help from her new friend Penn they start researching him to figure out what his deal is. But soon things get a little too crazy and the shadows seem to get more intense for Luce. It doesn't help that another guy at the school (Cam) is trying to compete for Luce's affection. Everything is getting so intense and then finally Daniel confesses and Luce's life will never be the same..

Wow. That is the first word that comes to mind after finishing this. It is the first book in the Fallen series. I can't wait to read the next book, Torment. I really had no idea where this book was going. Everything seemed like a surprise to me, especially when I got towards the end. I knew writing this review would be tricky since I didn't want to give anything major away. This book was so great though and it ended in a place where it left me really wanting to read the next book in the series while still wrapping up this book nicely. It drives me crazy when stories just abruptly end and then you have to wait forever until the next book. But the way this one ended I was satisfied but still left wanting so much more. I definitely enjoyed that aspect. I would for sure check this one out if you're into a little bit of mystery, suspense, and of course love. Breannahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15838390111302423537noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8567617016335138217.post-66791562094871778752013-01-25T11:19:00.002-08:002013-01-25T11:19:57.609-08:00Blue is for Nightmares

Stacey Brown is not quite a normal teenager. For basically her whole life she has been having random psychic visions. Her grandma has the same sort of ability. Along with these visions she can do some spells, sort of like a witch. Her friends think that isn't really possible but go along with her when she attempts to perform one.

Recently, Stacey has been having visions about her best friend Drea and they aren't good visions. The visions are hinting about Drea's death and Stacey is freaked out for more than one reason. Drea just shrugs it off when Stacey mentions it until a stalker starts scaring Drea. Are Stacey's visions true and will she be able to save Drea?

This is the first book in the Blue is for Nightmare series. I'm anxious to read the other three now (White is for Magic, Silver is for Secrets, and Red is for Remembrance). I liked the plot and how the story is set at a boarding school so the story focuses on Stacey and her friends without many adults butting in. This book had all my favorite subjects: mystery, magic, and a bit of love thrown in. The story flowed nicely and I was never bored. I'm looking forward to reading more by Laurie Stolarz :).Breannahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15838390111302423537noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8567617016335138217.post-71768403684220169162013-01-19T13:19:00.001-08:002013-01-19T13:19:13.028-08:00Beautiful Lies

Alice and Rachel are identical twins. They aren't your average everyday twins though. Everything about their appearance is identical and they have this special sense where they can feel what the other twin is feeling.

The girls were orphaned when they were 9, and they are now 18 and have been living with their aunt and uncle and their son, Charlie. One night during a local fair Alice goes missing. Rachel immediately starts to look for her, she knows that something has happened to her. But her aunt and uncle don't seem to think anything is wrong. Alice takes off and disappears all the time, it's not a big deal. She'll come back. But what they don't know is that Alice didn't go missing...Rachel did.

This was definitely a good read and a good mystery too. I checked it out since it was about identical twins and I'm always interested in books with twins since I have twins of my own :). I was sucked in immediately. I wanted to find out what happened to Rachel. I kept thinking I had the right answer but I never turned out to be right. I love that in a mystery. If I can figure out what happened then the book isn't interesting anymore! But that wasn't the case here. The only thing I didn't like about this read was that I felt there were so many different characters that I could never remember who was who. I found myself having to go back and re-read sections to remember who a certain person was. Also, the flashbacks in the middle of chapters were a bit confusing as well. But other than that this was a really great book. So much happened that I never expected to happen. I will definitely be picking up another book by Jessica Warman soon. Breannahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15838390111302423537noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8567617016335138217.post-63357490976883287112012-06-26T19:18:00.000-07:002012-06-26T19:18:19.420-07:00If I Stay

17-year-old Mia has a great life. She has loving parents and
a sweet younger brother. Her boyfriend adores her and she may even have a
chance at getting in to Juilliard with her amazing skills on the Cello. But one
random snowy morning everything changes. Her family decides on an impromptu
outing once they realize the snow isn’t sticking around. The next thing Mia
knows she’s standing on the side of the road listening to the music still
playing in the torn up car and seeing her parents sprawled out on the pavement. She is
having a sort of out of body experience and can’t feel anything that has
happened to her own body but she can feel grief. In a matter of seconds her
whole life has changed and now she needs to make a choice. Should she stay or
should she go?

This was a fairly short book and I finished it in a day. It
was heart wrenching and I cried several times. The book flips between the day
of the accident and Mia’s life experiences from the past so that we can get to
know what her life was like before the accident which in turn just made it that
much more sad for me. But the writing was fantastic and I was drawn into the
book immediately. I just had to know what Mia’s fate was. The ending left it open for a follow up book
and it’s already out, Where She Went. It’s already on hold at my library. I’m
definitely excited for it to become available. If you're in the mood for a book to pull at your heart strings and make you tear up then definitely check this one out. If you don't feel like crying then I'd stay away, lol.
Breannahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15838390111302423537noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8567617016335138217.post-43251483432008037242012-06-20T19:05:00.000-07:002012-06-20T19:05:56.685-07:00The Darlings in Love

Victoria and Jack are hot and heavy, at least for a while.
Not long after their romance begins Victoria starts to realize that it seems as
if Jack would rather spend time with his friends and doing things a songwriter

Victoria but he wants her to do the things he always wants to do and never vis

After the disaster with Colin (him making Natalya choose
between him or his sister) Natalya is down in the dumps. Colin was the perfect

until Colin mentions that he “sort of has a girlfriend.” How could this be
possible?!

This was a great second book in The Darlings series. I’m not
exactly sure how many books Melissa plans to write about The Darlings but I am
sure loving these books! I read The Darlings Are Forever last year and I didn’t
even know this book existed so I was definitely excited to find it at the
library. I was even more excited when it turned out to be just as good as the
first book, maybe even a little better. What can I say, I’m a sucker for love
stories. I love Victoria, Natalya, and Jane too of course. They all have such
different personalities and I love how close of friends they are and how they
don’t let boys interfere with their long lasting friendship. I’d recommend this
book to anyone looking for a good contemporary read full of best friends, some
drama, and boys!
Breannahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15838390111302423537noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8567617016335138217.post-370085471853420242012-06-19T19:59:00.001-07:002012-06-19T19:59:15.310-07:00Lola and the Boy Next Door

Lola Nolan has always been sort of out there. Her outfits
are outrageous and she loves it. She can’t stand wearing plain old clothes. She
just recently turned 17 and is loving life. Summer vacation is almost over and
she’s making the best of it with her hot rocker boyfriend, Max, who is 22 and
who her fathers definitely don’t approve
of. She has a great best friend and her life is going pretty well. That is
until the Bell twins appear out of nowhere, Cricket and Calliope. They are
moving back in to the house next door yet again and all of a sudden Lola is
having a tough time. She has some history with Cricket (some of it not very
good history) and she’s freaking out now that he’s back. Lola is suddenly
overwhelmed by feelings for Cricket which she desperately wants to push away
because she loves Max, and of course because of the past. But is that really
what she needs to be doing?

This was a companion novel to Anna and the French Kiss and I
was totally shocked to see an appearance of Anna and Etienne! It was a surprise
and their characters fit in to the book pretty well too. I fell in love with
this book just like I did with Anna and the French Kiss. I loved Lola’s
personality and her fathers cracked me up. I really liked the way Stephanie put
the whole story together with all the different characters, and I really liked
Cricket. I could totally understand why Lola would fall for the cute and lanky
inventor boy next door. Everything about this book was so great and I’d highly
recommend it to anyone who is looking for a great contemporary novel.
Breannahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15838390111302423537noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8567617016335138217.post-69160411377459288292012-06-18T21:46:00.000-07:002012-06-18T21:46:08.053-07:00Anna and the French Kiss

Anna Oliphant is entering her senior year at a boarding school in Paris all
thanks to her suddenly rich father. Anna is not happy about being shipped off
to Paris for her senior year, leaving her best friend, her job at the movie
theater, and her crush behind. But soon after arriving at the school she meets
Etienne St. Claire, a fellow senior. She becomes friends with Etienne's close
friends and becomes close friends with Etienne as well despite the fact that he
has a girlfriend in college nearby. Anna and Etienne are in a bit of an awkward
situation but that doesn't stop them from getting close. Anna sure isn't upset
about coming to Paris now, is she?

I loved this book. Stephanie Perkins is such a great writer.
This is the first book I had read by her. One of my close friends (fellow blogger, Amanda's Blog) recommended
this book since it is one of her favorites so I had to check it out. I
instantly fell in love with Etienne and I loved Anna's character. The secondary
characters in the book were also great. It is one of the best contemporary
books I've ever read and I highly recommend checking it out. Also, check out
Lola and the Boy Next Door. It is written by Stephanie as well and it does not
disappoint!
Breannahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15838390111302423537noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8567617016335138217.post-1634774282153498192011-06-19T14:23:00.000-07:002011-06-19T14:26:40.535-07:00I'm back! (Again)Hello for those of you who are still following me! I can't believe I haven't posted in close to a year now. I feel awful! But I've been attending school full-time and looking for work constantly so I haven't had much time to read. But fear not fellow blog readers I just got sent some books to review for UnRequired reading and I have already started on one, Queen of the Dead, yay! I'll have a review for that in a few days, or less. So look forward to that!

How much have I missed since October?!Breannahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15838390111302423537noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8567617016335138217.post-58115465031521677842010-10-06T10:25:00.001-07:002010-10-06T10:39:02.336-07:00Real Live Boyfriends (ARC)Review of: Real Live Boyfriends by E. Lockhart
Release date: December 28th, 2010
Pages: 240
Publisher: Random House (Delacorte Press)
Received for review: ARC tour
Overall grade: A

*yes, boyfriends, plural. if my life weren't complicated - I wouldn't be Ruby Oliver.

In the fourth book of the Ruby Oliver series Ruby is a Senior and indeed has real live boyfriend. After some fights and misunderstandings Ruby and Noel are now a full on couple. Ruby is as happy as can be...that is until Noel goes to New York to visit his brother and after a few days he stops calling Ruby and won't answer her calls. While he's gone Gideon stops by (shirtless) and wants Ruby to go out on his boat with him. When Noel gets back from New York Ruby thinks he's acting like a "pod robot" and analyzes their relationship way too much. Of course this screws everything up.

While Ruby's love life is in shambles her home life isn't doing much better. Her father is depressed over the loss of his mother and Ruby's mom is obsessed with making meat dishes and constantly being annoyed with Ruby and her father. What's a girl to do?

This book definitely fit in nicely with the series. Who couldn't love Ruby Oliver? She's always over analyzing things and freaking out about the smallest things. But she's just an ordinary girl with some out of the ordinary problems. All in all I thought this book was a great follow up to the last one and I'd for there to be more! I hope E. Lockhart feels the same :)
The only thing I was sad about was the cover. I wish it matched the other three. Those covers were so cute!Breannahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15838390111302423537noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8567617016335138217.post-23735765446869246702010-09-26T14:54:00.000-07:002010-09-26T15:08:00.227-07:00(Re)CyclerReview of: (re)cycler by Lauren McLaughlin
Release date: August 25th. 2009
Pages: 288
Publisher: Random House
Received for review: Won in a contest
Overall grade: B

After the terrible incident that was prom Jill has to decide what to do after graduation. Should she travel with Tommy or should she go to New York with Ramie? Obviously since Jack is basically afraid of Tommy she chooses New York. Jack is of course thrilled because he gets to spend time having sex with Ramie as much as possible at their apartment. Jill is of course bummed because she misses Tommy terribly.

While there Jill and Ramie get mixed up with some "girl traders" that Jack has met. Jack is repulsed by this and wants to get back at the guys so he comes up with a plan to ruin their little scheme. But now Jill has sort of fallen for one of them and wants to lose her virginity just to get it over with. Recently Jack's cycles have been getting out of whack and Ramie is basically attached to this new fashion girl, Marguerite, who apparently has all sorts of connections. How many more problems can Jill and Jack run in to?

I think this was a great follow up to Cycler. It started off right after prom when Jill has to make her decision, and I liked that not a lot of time had passed from the first book. I also thought it was great that Jack actually wanted to protect Jill even though she had basically hid him for the first few years he was alive. Overall this was a good second book about Jill and Jack and their problems of being girl/boy. I hope there is a third book sometime in the future.Breannahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15838390111302423537noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8567617016335138217.post-27080249233968712362010-09-18T23:01:00.001-07:002010-09-18T23:04:37.514-07:00Big Contest!Princess Bookie is having her Contest Craze start soon!!! She's a senior in a small town. She has a best friend, Ramie. And of course, just like every young girl, she has a crush on a new kid in town named Tommy.

Oh yeah, there's one little thing I forgot to mention. Every month for the four days before her period Jill turns into a boy, aka Jack. This has been happening since Jill was 14. Now of course this puts quite of a damper on Jill's life. She has to keep this big secret from Ramie and the rest of the world. And now Jack has developed an obsession with Ramie. If it wasn't for Jill's 'Plan B' and her mantra "I am all girl" she would be stuck with all of Jack's thoughts (and actions) in her head all the time. But soon even those techniques might not even work anymore. What is a girl/guy supposed to do?

This was an incredibly brilliant first novel from Lauren McLaughlin (the second is out now too (Re)Cycler). It was so strange that it was amazing, if that even makes any sense at all. I absolutely loved it. It's hard to imagine what kind of life someone would have if they actually had this happen to them every month. It's crazy to even think about! But Lauren definitely captured the right feelings for both Jill and Jack I'm sure. I loved how each chapter switched between the two. So the book was basically half of Jill's point of view and vis versa. In the front of the book there is a message from Lauren saying that she was born to tell the story of Cycler and after having finished this story I definitely believe this. If I were you I'd go check this book out if you're in for a real page turner. And also, keep in mind that there is some mature subject matter in this book, and of course it mostly comes from Jack. Haha, boys.Breannahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15838390111302423537noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8567617016335138217.post-29278302752874842072010-09-03T22:52:00.000-07:002010-09-03T23:06:08.975-07:00Dark SongReview of: Dark Song by Gail Giles (ARC)
Release date: September 2010
Pages: 292
Publisher: Little Brown
Received: won in a contest
Overall grade: A

"It felt dangerous. Of course it helped that it was one of those books that is a really quick read but even if it wasn't I'm sure I would have finished quickly. The first half focuses on Ames' family falling apart because of her father and the second part focuses on their new life in Texas and Ames' obsession with being a bad girl. As soon as Marc showed up I got a bad feeling but of course that was to be expected. I definitely wasn't expecting the book to end the way it did, and I liked the ending. If you're looking for a fast paced drama filled read then this is the book for you. Check out Gail Giles' other books as well. They're great just like this one.Breannahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15838390111302423537noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8567617016335138217.post-66940076477977999422010-09-03T22:34:00.001-07:002010-09-03T23:08:40.574-07:00Zombie BlondesReview of: Zombie Blondes by Brian James
Release date: May 2009
Pages: 232 (paperback)
Publisher: Square Fish (imprint of Macmillan)
Received: Bought at Borders
Overall grade: C

Hannah and her father never stay anywhere for very long. She is never in the same school for more than a few months at a time at best. Because of this Hannah is always the new girl and usually has problems making friends. She has never been one to be popular.

This time they move to Maplecrest, Vermont. It has an old town feel to it that Hannah's father loves. But Hannah feels that something is off. Too many houses are for sale and it seems so quiet. Then of course there is the fact that the cheerleaders are strangely pale and all have amazingly piercing blue eyes. Hannah doesn't think much of it until her new friend Lukas tries to tell her that they are zombies. At first Hannah thinks he's crazy. Then the cheerleaders want her to be one of them and Hannah starts to notice things about them and the football players as well. What is going on in this town?

This book was okay. It wasn't breathtaking or anything, just okay for me. It was also a bit predictable but I liked Hannah and Lukas so that made up for it. I wasn't really hooked until the last forty pages or so. The rest of the book seemed to just drag out the inevitable. So unless you're really obsessed with zombies I wouldn't really recommend it. I do love the cover though and the way how the zombies were portrayed. It was a bit different then how they've been portrayed in other books and that was a plus. Overall it was a pretty okay read.Breannahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15838390111302423537noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8567617016335138217.post-48224357293300814782010-08-30T14:44:00.000-07:002010-09-03T23:07:54.864-07:00Tell Me a SecretReview of: Tell Me a Secret by Holly Cupala
Release date: June 22nd, 2010
Pages: 292
Publisher: Harper Teen
Received: Won in a contest
Overall grade: A

"It's tough living in the shadow of a dead girl..."

It has been 5 years since Miranda's (aka Rand) sister, Xanda, died. But after that day Paul keeps trying to talk to Holly and pursue her further. Pretty soon they are regularly sleeping together and Holly feels awful about it knowing that Saskia is Paul's real girlfriend. Things get even worse when suddenly Nils and Holly start having feelings for each other..

At first I wasn't sure this book would really go anywhere but after the first couple chapters I realized what a pickle Holly had gotten herself in. And when she started talking to Saskia I was basically holding my breath every page! Holly and Nil's relationship was pretty great too. He was always there for her trying to cheer her up and make her smile. I was rooting for them to end up together during most of the book. Paul was just a total sleazebag. I kept wanting Holly to just smack him in the face or something. If you're looking for a great contemporary book to read then this is definitely it. I couldn't wait to get to the end of the book to find out what happened and I'm sure you'll feel the same way too. This was definitely a great first novel from Lauren Strasnick, and now I can't wait to read her other book, Her and Me and You. Breannahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15838390111302423537noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8567617016335138217.post-47909978894340966072010-08-22T18:34:00.000-07:002010-08-26T12:20:17.241-07:00In My Mailbox (6)In My Mailbox is held by The Story Siren and was inspired by Alea at Pop Culture Junkie. She's co-captain of the cheerleading squad and Homecoming queen for 3 years in a row. Now Alona is also dead; hit by a school bus leaving school early one morning.

Will Killian is an outcast who just wishes that ghosts would stop pestering him. Yes, that is correct. Will can hear and see ghosts and vis versa. All the ghosts ever want is help from Will to send messages to their loved ones and Will can't stand it. It also doesn't help that his psychiatrist just wants to throw him in the loony bin. So of course when Alona realizes that Will can see and hear her he's not too happy about it. She's always asking him questions about the afterlife and why is she still stuck on earth and not up in heaven.

When Alona starts being Will's "spirit guide" he isn't too sure about the situation but then he realizes it might not be such a bad thing after all. Especially if it can help him get rid of the big shadowy ghost that seems like its out to kill him. Now all Alona and Will have to do is get along..

This was an excellent read. Alona and Will are constantly at each others throats throughout most of the book and it makes for a good laugh. The chapters are told in Will's point of view and in Alona's point view. They switch every chapter and I really liked that. You get to be in each character's head for a short period of time. I also liked how hard it was for Alona to say even one little nice thing about someone. Overall this was just an entertaining, and at certain times serious read. Be on the lookout for the next book in the trilogy. Queen of the Dead will be released in the Summer of 2011. Breannahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15838390111302423537noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8567617016335138217.post-64073366785844232202010-08-10T23:57:00.000-07:002010-08-10T23:58:33.312-07:00Tweet Heart
Claire has two best guy friends, Will and Bennett, who are complete nerds with basically no social life. She also has her best friend Charlotte, aka Lottie.

Ever since she was little Claire has been majorly crushing on this guy named JD Whitcomb. He is super popular and Claire thinks that he'd never notice a girl like her. She is always talking about JD to Will. She always seems so upset about him not noticing her that Bennett gives Will an idea...a very dumb idea. He tells will he should make up a name on Twitter and pretend that he is JD. He tells Will that he should only message Claire once, just to make her smile. But does Will listen? Of course not.

This book was absolutely delish and was of course super easy to read and also short because it's written in emails, blogs, and tweets. But I think that it actually makes the book even better. Basically I loved the way it was written. And the four characters of the story were awesome as well. This is the ultimate Summer read. It has boys which is always a plus, even if they are nerdy, hehe. And it has a really sweet girl plus a very flirty girl which always adds up to some trouble. I'd go pick a copy of this book asap. It really is a super cute read. <3

They will be there for a month during the Summer and both girls have different plans for their time. Dessy wants to mend her recently broken heart after her first love, Hamilton, smashed it and Veronica wants to make her newly ex-boyfriend Boz jealous by encountering all the hot guys she possibly can in one month. Once they get to Prague Veronica even starts to put cut outs of all the hot guys she's met up on her wall in their dorm. She calls it the "wall of hot dudes".

But not long after they've been there everything seems to start going wrong. The guy that Dessy is interested in suddenly stops paying attention to her, and Veronica makes enemies with Corky who is one of their roommates and is apparently crazy. Soon Dessy and Veronica's friendship is strained and when Corky reveals something to Dessy about Veronica and Dessy's ex back home their friendship may be ruined forever.

For starters, this was a really great Summer read. Reading about two high school girls spending their Summer in Prague and chasing hot guys to me is the ultimate Summer read. I loved how Dessy and Veronica's friendship was so strong but they would constantly have these little small fights with one another. It was almost like they were sisters really. Also, this book wasn't all that predictable to me. It was nice to turn the page and not have what I expected to happen to be there. I always appreciate that in a good book. I also really liked the scenes when they are in the workshop and everyone is critiquing each others stories. Even the crazy girl, Corky, was interesting to me. I'd recommend this book to any girl who is looking for a relaxing Summer read. :)Breannahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15838390111302423537noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8567617016335138217.post-47039120744153797392010-08-05T10:20:00.001-07:002010-08-05T10:22:50.401-07:00Check out this contest!Check out this contest that is going on over at Confessions of a Bookaholic.
